VIDEO CARDS
There are two types of video cards available on the market today: PCI and AGP. AGP is a faster port than the PCI port and is
only used by video cards. AGP has an advantage in three dimensional graphics in that it is capable of using the main system
memory as well as the video memory. Video memory on the video card starts out at 16MB and goes as high as 256MB. The video
card has its own processor and this makes much of the difference in prices you will see. Different video cards contain
different processor speeds and different memory speeds. Another difference between video cards are the connectors on the back
of the card. Some cards just have a monitor output (seen in picture above) while others have a television output or have the neccessary jack to
record video signals making the computer a digital vcr. This comes in handy if you have a DVD burner because you will be able
to record your favorite television shows to DVD.
