PROCESSORS

There are two different types of processors available which must be supportd by your motherboard. AMD (seen above) and Intel (seen below) are two competitors racing for the fastest processing speed. A person will notice that AMD processors are described by model numbers which determine their effective speed. For example, a processor with the model number of 2100+ means that the processor is able to compete with another processor operating at 2.1GHz even though the AMD is only operating at 1.73GHz. This is achieved by special processor architecture which keeps prices lower and also lowers heat at the same time. Intel also has a feature that is only found on Intel processors called Hyperthreading. What this feature does is split the processor in half as though a person were running two processors together. This feature offers people who multitask faster computer performance. For example, while playing music, a person opens another program and notices that the audio skips. This is because the single processor being used has to process data back and forth between the audio program and the other program. With Hyperthreading technology, there are "two processors", each processor handling a different application so that the audio would not skip.
